So began the hunt for a planeteer shirt.
In my search I discovered one, but it isn't exact.
I'll have to make my own to be exactly right.
However, I discovered a couple pages that still sell merchandise!! I already know what I want!!
When I was in sixth grade I had this Water-powered watch. I was so excited about it. I don't know whatever happened to it, but I remember one time these kids stole it out of my desk in class. I don't recall if I ever got it back, but I remember sticking my watch under running water and being so fascinated that water could provide power.
It is so interesting to recall how passionate I was about the environment. When I first began college I remember the electric Ford Think cars touring our campus. How neat was that! What a beautiful future was around the corner! Ford promised an electric car-- this was sometime around 1999 or early 2000 by the way.
Fast forward to 2008. Our gas prices around here are $4.50 a gallon here in Pasadena. Once again automakers are promising an electric car next year.
I don't want to be disappointed next year. If one doesn't come out by April, I'll have to go with my original plan of converting a regular car. Sure, I won't get any government subsidies or perks, it will be on my own. That is so frustrating to think about. Hopefully our next president will care about the environment. I hope Obama wins because his ideas on changing the way our government deals with lobbyists should help limit the influence of the oil companies and their suppression of alternative energy sources.
So anyway, I found the following webpages:
captain planet's store
The official Captain Planet website- complete with its 2001 motif, and flash webdesign
Captain Planet Merchandise, including a watch, that I believe is the same type I had as a kid.
Unfortunately the number doesn't work. If only it were true.
Today I have off, and I had planned on taking the metro downtown. I really need to start using that more often. I tried when I first got down here and then stopped. I also need to buy a bike. They sell them at Costco for $150. I'll pick one of those up soon. Maybe next paycheck.
